I recently enjoyed seeing a very impressive interview with Salif Keita, a singer from Mali, in the Dutch television programme ‘Vrije Geluiden‘. Telling about his roots, and the difficulties albinos (he is an albino himself) have in African countries where they are heavily discriminated. The most wonderful part though was seeing him performing a couple of songs live, ‘La Différence’ and ‘Folon’, both from a breathtaking beauty, just like all his music really is.
If you follow this link, you will find the official video for ‘La Différence’, it’s great.. (Universal Music France, doesn’t allow people to embed it on their websites, unfortunately…)

This is what is nice about the web, the diversity. Lovely.
One of the world’s most underrated artists. The gentle cry in his voice always gives me chills. Thank you for sharing this amazing artist.
Saw this on WordPress – Salif Keita is absolutely mesmerizing. I was lucky enough to see him a couple of years ago here in Tenerife, Canary Islands, and a friend of mine went or is going (not sure) to see him in Sevilla around now, so he must be touring Europe I think. If you can go to see him live, do. It will be an unforgettable experience.
He was touring here in March… Unfortunately, I completely missed out on him
Bad luck! he’s performing at WOMAD in England at the end of July. Not too far away?????
Not too far, but still a couple of hours swimming from Amsterdam
Awesome profile! Thank you!

How beautiful! This is why I love checking out other people’s blogs- you so many times get introduced to new artists and music that I probably otherwise would not have come across! Thnaks for posting this!
