I experienced a brief moment of confusion when I saw performer Leander Haaitsma in ‘action’.

Picture this: while walking through a museum, your attention is drawn to a group of people. Obviously, they’re not watching the art, but they’re watching something on the ground. When moving closer you find out what they are so excited about: on the cold floor there is a girl who just had an accident.

But why doesn’t anyone help her? Should I .. or is it just …?

With her remarkable “Lay & Walk Away – InstantArt” project, Haaitsma is aiming to create surprising interventions in public spaces. After researching the surroundings, she takes a spot in a museum or gallery. Creating a staged image, a site specific performance inspired by this location. Unannounced and uninvited she temporary takes possession of this space.

My name is Stefan de Haan, graphic designer and art director. Great fan of minimalistic art and design. Loves Helvetica and "joysurfing" on the web. Have a good day!
