Really cool and unique series of works made by Australian artist Jonathan Zawada. For this series called ‘Over Time’ Jonathan painted landscapes that are based on various kinds of mostly useless graph data, like for example: ‘Marijuana usage among year 12 students vs. CD and Vinyl record sales between 1975 and 2000′ or ‘Value of land per square meter in Second Life vs. Value of land per square foot in Dubai between 2007 and 2009.’
After collecting the data, a special 3D fractal program creates a virtual extraction that looks like a mountainous landscape, which is then painted on linen.
If you happen to be in L.A. anytime soon, make sure to visit Prism Gallery which is exhibiting these works until the 12th of Februari.
