Tonight it’s finally time for: Vitrine de Ville.
Today, December 8th it’s time for the exhibition of art collective “de Grote 8″. From 17.00 till 23.00 you can expect art and performing arts in the Wolvenstraat. “De Grote 8″ are eight friends working together as artists: Merijn Kavelaars(painter), Daniel Hageman (illustrator), Koen Baars (poet), Steve Mensink (sound engineer), Jaimy van Leur(typography), Ruben Wijnstok (scenographer) and photographers Geert Broertjes en Berend Ouwerling. Besides art there is music by King Jack and the official opening is at 20.00 hrs with Nightmayor Isis by Brix.

Singer El Rod teamed up with Karen van de Kaats to create the artwork for his new album ‘Art Nouveau’.
They celebrate this at the Ontfront store with an expo and openings party. Drinks by Absolut Vodka, Rsvp via web@makemusic.com for entrance.

The second weekend of December De Balie presents in cooperation with Dancing on the Edge a versatile festival with cutting edge, contemporary art and culture from the Middle East. One year after the Jasmin Revolution artists from Tunesia to Libanon come together to showcase their work and to discuss the role of art and culture in the revolutionary movements that sweep their region. Amongst other experiences you can expect a live audiovisual performance from the Palestinian threesome Tashweesh, a pungent theatrical solo by the Jordanian Lana Nasser, a photo-exposition by Amira Al Sharif – one of the few female photographers from Yemen, and a smashing concert by the Arabic electro band Zeid and the Wings from Lebanon.

Last weekend to visit Scarlett Hooft Graafland’s exhibition at Huis Marseille.
Drawed by the photo of her in a polarbear suit in the middle of a snowy landscape, I had to see this exhibition as soon as possible. I came, I saw, and bought the book. Must see for (Dutch) photography lovers!

Last day to visit ‘Petrus and Me‘ at the Bijbels Museum.
Petrus represents many things: He is a disciple and a gatekeeper, fisherman and rock, a friend, betrayer and saint, and above all human. In this exhibition we examine how these themes have inspired artists and scholars. A photographer, illustrator, vertiser, curator, theologian, art historian, writer and seven contemporary painters. Also a sculptor, whose portrayal of a penitent St Peter almost six hundred years ago conveys an incredible intensity.

Up for something new?
Visit the Rijksmuseum at Schiphol. The current exhibition, top models of the golden age is a small collection of nine portraits of well-to-do girls and women from the Golden Age, stunningly painted by Frans Hals, Caesar van Everdingen, Isaak Luttichuys, Barholomeus van der Helst and others.
