Enjoy our lovely Filmmuseum this weekend.

January 8th they close for good at the beautiful Vondelpark location, before moving to the new futuristic place at the ‘Ij-Oever’. Tonight I can recommend Jules et Jim, the film based on the French novel Henri-Pierre Roché. Decades of a love triangle concerning two friends and an impulsive woman. Beautiful clothes and sentences! Perfect 60s drama to dream into your weekend.

Saturday

Devote your day on walking outside to enjoy the winter to the max.

Take a walk to the Noordermarkt, to buy your organic groceries. After that take a walk to the Westerpark for a day at the Westergasterrein. The festival Wintergasfabriek is at the Zuiveringshal. Expect ice skating, Dutch traditional treats like stamppot and Dutch gluhwijn. Ice skating, the family circus and the lightshow by “Het Blauwe Uur” will keep you busy all day.

You had th chance to visit this exhibition since October, and this weekend it’s your last chance to visit the Snap Shot exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum.

The invention in 1888 of the first manageable, easy-to-use camera for amateurs made spontaneous photography possible: the snapshot was born. The enthusiastic users of the earliest amateur cameras included many artists. What role did photography play in their lives and how did it influence their work? This exhibition sheds a light on this creative process, presenting 220 photographs and 70 paintings, prints and drawings from seven artists.

I’m a big fan of old jazz and lazy Sunday evenings watching film.

And you can enjoy this golden combination at the OT301 tonight because jazz is on screen tonight. They show two documentaries based on legendary jazz pianist Thelonious Monk and whacked-out avant garde musician Sun Ra.

Last but not least, PUP Amsterdam and Bar 22 team up for their monthly ‘Frai Flu‘ event at the Bar 22 venue.

A great evening to get inspired by emerging artists, fashion-designers and bands. Read all about it here.
