The still über hip and trendy shop annex gallery Colette Paris is hosting Australian artist Jonathan Zawada‘s latest exhibition called ‘Kindred Spirits’.

Kindred Spirits is a collection of print works which explore the value of the image in a disorienting world where visual culture is defined by an assortment of images out of context, a subject he also explores on his blog Fashematics. The show comprises pieces from an ongoing body of work that explores the simple manipulation of found imagery, utilising techniques from collage to Photoshop to custom coded image distortion algorithms.The work is essentially image-play, a kind of visual theatre sport where everything is liberated from style, concept and context and simply is.

Sydney based photographer Jonathan May shot these wonderful portraits in Kenya at Thika Primary School for the Blind.

Each diptych shows a portrait of the student, as well as a the portrait seen from the perspective of the same student and the % of vision he or she has.

The school where Jonathan shot the photos is run by the Salvation Army, if you wanna help out, go here and find out how.

A wonderful set of images, photos and stills from Columbine Goldsmith‘s short film ‘L’ile’, which she made together with co-director Allegria Torassa.

‘Allegria and I didn’t plan on making this film. We were on an island – it was a vacation. We were in this enormous swimming pool with diving masks late one night. The swimming pool had an eerie green light which looked other-worldly and fantastic. We had visions of doing a surrealist film underwater — in the mood of Luis Buñel. So we spent the following days running around the island searching for an underwater camera. We never found one. But in the process, we played with these white masks and explored parts of the island. We just became freer and freer.’

Interesting works by British photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten, reminding me of Hayashi Natsumi‘s photos.

With ‘In Between’, a follow up to her ‘Teenage Stories’ series, Julia continues her story about the transformation of a girl from girlhood to womanhood. With the girls floating, jumping and falling, always in motion, moving towards maturity. Also included are several elements, which symbolize all the typical struggles girls face in their teenage years. Beautiful.

Great customized version of Nike’s Zoom Force-1 boots by New York based designer Marcus Tremonto, ready for the future and way better looking than the ugly Nike MAG boots.

Really love the innovative futuristic combination of paper and custom graphics that Marcus used on the boots, which are inspired by sci-fi movies, James Bond and Gundam.

Dissapointingly the boots are mainly meant for snowboarding, so I would welcome similar versions of other Nike hi tops in the future…
