I have had this song in my head now for around 9 months. So I’m gonna deliver you the baby now: Carrousel.
This American band is a wet dream for anybody who loves indie/dreampop/folk. If I have to give it a label, that is. “Graduating in May 2009, statistically the worst year to graduate in fifty years, Joel Piedt packed up his bags, turned down a lucrative job offer, and set out for Tallahassee, Florida to meet up with a friend and make a record. The story behind the record isn’t new; Piedt was heartbroken, having lost his love, Michelle, the protagonist of what would become his band’s debut full-length.”
9 songs full of self loathing, heartbreak, regret and sorrow. I know it sounds heavy, but because of their breathtaking productions, each tune is very easy to take in , a real treat for your ear canals. Apparently Piedt wanted to spent 4 months working on the album but it ended up taking him 2,5 years to finish, thank god he took his time. His meticulous tinkering on each instrument gave the album it’s perfect musical balance.
