My name is Amanda Jasnowski. As I write this I remember how bad I am at writing these kind of things.
I also remember that it gets easier with time.
I am 20 years old, currently living in the rural Midwest. However, I am moving to New York City very soon. I began taking photos around 2007-2008 and have found the best advice I was given back then was to shoot often. So I did. I shot feaverishly, and throughout that I slowly discovered what I liked and didn’t like, my ever-evolving style and what having a “style” actually meant amongst discovering countless other things. I am drawn to bold compositions, mysterious ones too. Subconciously more often than not I connect humans into my photographs, mostly due to my fascination and admiration of them. Particularly women, what beautiful creatures. Documenting my life is always primary, I like using it as a visual diary. I like playing with colors, textures, shapes and lines. There is beauty and interest to be found everywhere, sometimes it can just be a little harder to find. My love of light will forever manifest itself through my images, that I have no doubt about.
I appreciate the interaction you can have with the viewer through your images, the ability to evoke a response from other people. One thing I will always love about creating for yourself is that it’s limitless. I am a lover of analog but I shoot digital as well. I worked in a retail camera shop with mostly digital equipment for a year and since leaving It is nice though to not have to constantly think so much about the technological aspects anymore. I feel more at home this way.
