My name is Katja Kremenić. I’m a photographer based in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Taking pictures is one of my favorite things at the moment. I’ve spent a long time experimenting and learning so now gradually I’m starting to feel more confident and relaxed about what i do.
When I started taking photos I used a digital camera but right now I mainly use film cameras, and I’ll keep using it as long as I can. My approach is completely visual and intuitive and I’m mostly looking for things that I find meaningful, an attempt that seems to reveal certain truths about whatever goes through my mind in a certain moment.
Natural light is more appealing to me, I take a lot of pictures outside. However sometimes I love creating an artificial light scene, too. Nan Goldin was one of my first favorite photographers, and I still come back to her work often. Recently I saw some of her great pieces exhibited and read that her life is her work and her work, her life, which made me realise how important it is to work hard, no matter what.
I hope that my personal and commissioned work will go hand in hand with one another and I’ll never have to make a difference between the two. At the moment I’m preoccupied with all the editing, and figuring out how to pull out some new projects that I have in mind.
